The sight of a Magnolia in full bloom provides an elegant, exotic presence to a garden. Saucer magnolia, also known as a Tulip magnolia, are a small deciduous tree that can reach up to 8 metres tall with a spread of 4 metres or more.
Tulip-shaped flowers, white with shades of pink appear in abundance covering the tree in April, just before leaves shoot. The leaves are light-green, oblong and 10-15cm long, turning pale yellow before they drop in the autumn.
