Characteristics

Dawn redwood is a large, adaptable, fast growing deciduous conifer.

Dawn redwood trees can reach 25-35 metres tall and achieve a spread of 6-8 metres wide in maturity.

The Dawn redwood has a conical crown. The bark peels off in strips and is reddish brown in colour. The leaves are deciduous, bright green needle-like in shape. They shoot in April and turn reddish-brown to orange before falling in the autumn.
