This site in Cookham is a large ongoing project for Hortlands, The Tree and Hedge Company came in at the mid stage of the garden build to plant a number of trees and hedging in a variety of sizes and species.
Before this install began, we took our client on a buying trip to Lorenz Von Ehren in Hamburg, Germany. They got to view all of the trees available to them in the nursery, then tag them themselves to ensure they got the exact look and impact desired with each tree chosen. For such a large project, a trip like this is vital to make sure the client is getting exactly what they envision for their garden. It’s a great way to bring the client closer to the project, giving them as much involvement as they wish.
Once back in the UK, the project really got going. We planted 134 trees in a range of sizes at the site along with an impressive 408 hedging plants, equating to 359 metres of hedging in total.
Some of the more mature trees that were planted were the three Pinus Sylvestris also known as a Scots Pine. Standing at around 8.5 metres tall these trees took some extensive planning and man power to plant successfully. These remarkable trees had to be craned into place using access via a neighbouring garden. Once in place the trees were then strategically planted by our experienced team.
It took a total of 8 weeks to complete this vast plant, spread out over a number of months. This doesn’t include the hours spent buying and organising for such a big install. The team worked efficiently and professionally making sure the planting didn’t effect the other teams also working on site. This was helped by the timeframe that we came on to site. The large trees and hedging were planted before any of the major landscaping was started. This is always something to consider when planning a job like this.
