Tall Evergreen Hedge Privacy Screening

Cambridge

Hortlands Nursery supplied and installed 110 6m tall thuja plicata hedging plants ahead of a full landscape project being undertaken by the Hortlands landscaping team.

Thuja was selected by the award-winning chartered landscape architects, Park Hood. Thuja is known for its dense foliage and can be planted in various locations, providing an instant high screen.

Each plant measured 6 metres in height and 1 metre in width, weighing 1 ton. We secured each plant with a Platypus RF3p tree anchor so that the roots would have a chance to grow without the root ball rocking in the wind. The client has engaged Hortlands maintenance division to carry out the service of pruning and feeding the trees annually. We look forward to seeing how the gardens develop over the next year.

Thuja plicata offers exceptional screening because its foliage is compact and dense, providing privacy right away. Besides acting as a visual barrier, it also reduces noise. It does not require much maintenance, only a light prune once a year to keep its shape. It grows well in most soils as long as the ground is not wet or waterlogged and will tolerate light shade. If not trimmed, the tree can grow up to 35 metres.

Hortlands offers Thuja plicata specimens supply and installation services. They provide up to 6 metre tall plants at £1,800 per linear metre. Since all projects are based on specific requirements, please contact us for a detailed quotation.
