One of our most popular hedges, the cherry laurel has an extremely dense upright habit easily recognized by its large, glossy 10-15cm long and 6-8cm wide light green ovate leaves. This makes it an ideal barrier hedge or decorative screen. Fragrant white flowers appear on long, erect racemes in May and repeat again in September. These are followed by small red fruits that turn black in autumn.
Cherry laurel will thrive in most soil types, all but waterlogged or chalky soils, and is suitable for exposed sites in full sun or shade. Hardy to -15 degrees centigrade.
