Various native plants
Native mix hedges are one of the most beautiful hedges that can be created. We are premium suppliers and planters of the Native Mixture Hedge.
Native hedges are and can be successfully planted in fields, paddocks and gardens all across the United Kingdom. These hedges are made by planting together, side by side mixtures of native fruiting and flowering plants.
These hedges provide valuable food and protection to our native birds and a hidden world of small creatures and wildlife.
As well as being beneficial to our wildlife, for us humans as spring arrives, the native hedge bursts into life creating truly beautiful hedges with visual interest right through to the end of autumn. Producing flowers, catkins, seeds, fruits and nuts.
Tip: If you have the space and can withstand leaving the hedge in a slightly overgrown and untidy state, pruning alternate years will maximise the flowering and fruiting production.
There are many native plants suitable to make up these hedges and mixtures can be chosen to establish and flourish in most locations.
Popular mixtures are available already made up into instant hedges. Our own native mixture instant hedge consists of hazel, hawthorn, dogwood, blackthorn and buckthorn.
We provide full planting services for Native Mixture Hedges which includes supply, delivery and installation.

Generally native mixtures will adapt to most soil types. However, some sites may require a carefully selected mixture to suit.
Native mixtures require sunlight and will only tolerate partial shade positioning.
Annual growth for native mixture hedges will be approximately 30-50cm per annum.
To keep native mixture hedges happy they should not be planted into extremes of pH, either slightly acidic to slightly alkaline is best.
Because of the plant mixtures each root system will be different.
Plants to create a native mixture hedge can be carefully selected to work in most UK locations.
Pruning can be carried out at the end of summer or left until all the fruit has been eaten, February at the very latest.
Native hedges can be planted in fields, paddocks and gardens all across the United Kingdom.
