Box Sempervirens / Buxus
A well-known evergreen favourite of garden designers as a low hedge. A slow growing hedge with intense cordate roots that can be planted in sun or shade in neutral to alkaline soils. Box, Buxus sempervirens can eventually, over time, grow to 6 metres high. Evergreen box hedges are popular and used regularly as low hedges surrounding herbaceous borders or pathways and also for creating patterns in and around lawn areas.

Box / Buxus sempervirens are very long living and if left to grow, can reach in excess of 4 metres. Shown below is the variety; Buxus sempervirens ‘Rotundifolia’.
